I am very blessed to have the opportunity to serve in Lynwood. I am a wife, mother of two, and have been an elementary school teacher for over 15 years. Over the years, God has repeatedly drawn me into women’s ministry. He has blessed me by allowing me to lead several women’s groups. The step into Lynwood seemed a natural one for me. I come from a long line of church planters and leaders. When I was offered the chance to serve in Lynwood, I was very excited. Now, I see that my previous experiences were preparing me for this amazing moment.
I have been happily married to my wife Catrina for 27 years and have been together as a couple since 1988. God has blessed us with four children, our oldest Justine age 28 years old, our second daughter Sierra 27 years old, our son Danny 23 years old and our daughter Ilana 18 years old . We have five grandchildren and one on the way. Catrina and I have been part of and involved in three study groups that have truly blessed us and changed our lives for the glory of God’s kingdom. A great deal of love and God’s teaching through his powerful word has been poured into our hearts and minds to bring us to the next step in our walk with God with our brothers and sisters from the RCLA core team. We know that God’s church will prevail. We have a lot of love to give to the city of Lynwood, the kind of love that has been given to us from pastors, deacons, elders and many brothers and sisters along with their families. I look forward to seeing God’s work in all of our lives and in the City of Lynwood. My heart truly desires to be the best servant to Christ, the Gospel, and to His people.
I have been married to Erin for 6 years and we have been blessed with two beautiful daughters. I am a classically trained musician, but the Lord had other plans for me and has since developed those skills in to using creativity through technology to bless His people. The Reformed Church of Los Angeles church plant is an exciting place to be and I am so blessed that the Lord has placed me and my family here. In my free time I love to learn code and dabble in experimental technology. I love to listen to and play music. And most of all I love to spend time with my family and friends!
I grew up in the church; I vividly remember the day I accepted Jesus into my heart in the 3rd grade. I served at my church’s Summer Day Camp every year until I “fell away” in my 20’s. It has been just in the last few years that I have truly discovered what having an intentional relationship with our Heavenly Father is all about and I am excited to teach, learn & grow with the kids of RCLA. I did not participate in any ministries, events, or small groups at my last church. When Pastor Rudy and Pastor Chris said they were going into the city of Lynwood to plant a church, I knew this was my time to start serving the Lord, to start “doing life” with my new family here at RCLA.
My husband Randy and I have 4 beautiful kids and we love the Lord. We chose to church plant in Lynwood because we believe this is where God wants us to utilize our gifts. We are super excited for this new chapter in our lives and to be used for His glory!!!
I have been happily married to my beautiful wife Elizabeth for about eighteen years now and have enjoyed growing up with her and look forward to growing old with her. We have two children, Emma who is ten now and is daddy’s little girl and the catalyst, I believe, for my coming to Christ’s calling, and a son Steven who is Emma’s older brother at Thirteen. We were asked to join RCLA by a person whom I have much respect for and has guided me through some difficult situations in the past. Along with that I was reassured when a truck driver came into my business and told me that he was praying and that God had told him that God planned on using me greatly this year.
I have been married to Leon for 6 years and I’m a stay-at-home mama to two active and joyful toddler girls, Addie and Emmie. I have a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries from Biola University with a minor in Biblical Studies. In my spare time I enjoy reading, working out, and spending time with family. I’m excited to plant a church in Lynwood because I feel like RCLA is a church plant unlike any other: a racially and ethnically diverse group of people who love the Lord and really desire to be a part of Lynwood…not just to meet in Lynwood or seek to gentrify Lynwood or anything like that, but really to become a part of the community and culture, walk alongside others, and bring glory to God. RCLA is a family that thrives on authentic relationships and real conversations — you should always feel free to walk in the door just the way that you are.
I am happily married to my wife, Mayra, with 2 kids – Emily, age 11 and Elysiah, age 9. We are committed to church and leadership and are excited to be part of the RCLA church plant in Lynwood, CA. We see that in the Great Commission Jesus calls us to make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe we are all broken vessels, but God is still able to use us to further His kingdom and that it is an honor to serve along side great, Godly people. We are excited to see where the Lord will take us next!
Edna and I are happily married with four kids. Gabby, Esteban (not shown), Diego, and Natalia. Rudy was raised in the toughest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. I have lived in places like Watts, South Central LA, Huntington Park, and currently in Lynwood. My past was one marked by gang violence, drug use and sales, as well as multiple prison terms. I came to saving faith in a prison cell, on my knees crying out to God that I was tired and wanted to change my life. I took my time in prison to truly study the scriptures and was captivated by how God spoke to and revealed Himself. God has truly done a redeeming work in my life as my wife and I were once on the verge of divorce and by God’s grace ended up leading the Spanish Marriage Ministry. I have has also served as the Celebrate Recovery Ministry Leader, and as the Director of Congregational CARE and Outreach at Emmanuel Reformed Church. I am a passionate preacher and teacher and have a deep appreciation of the reformed faith and tradition. My family fully supports my ministry endeavors as we do ministry together.
I was born and raised in South L.A. I attended church during my childhood and adolescence but did not truly know and follow Jesus until the age of 21. God used a friend of the family to share Christ with me and I became intrigued. Over time, God began to break down the walls. I researched and studied, trying to find out who Jesus Christ really was but in the middle of my studies and intellectual barriers, Jesus rescued me and captivated my heart, and delivered me from a life of drug addiction and violence. Then I went on to serve as the director of Spanish ministries at a local Baptist church in my hometown. In 2014, I discovered Emmanuel Reformed Church in Paramount, quickly became a partner in mission, and within a year or so was working as a pastoral intern. Around the time I began attending Emmanuel I met Rudy Rubio and we began seminary together, which led to an eventual partnership in the planting of a church in Lynwood. I feel very strongly supported by my family in I have a great passion and desire to plant a church.
